Hello and welcome to my blog!

I'm Amy Emily and I'm a New England + Destination Wedding Photographer based in Boston, MA. I'm satisfied in the moments where I've kicked off my heels, grabbed a cup of coffee, and laughed 'till my sides hurt.

I adore telling the charming and ever-so amazing stories of life. I hope I can be a part of yours. Look around, share in the joy of others, and remember your story is beautiful.

Grignan, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: France Wedding- Natalie & Jacky Pt.2

I’ve been pretty quiet on this blog but not today. Today, I am so excited to share with you images from my first wedding in southern France. Natalie and Jacky’s civil ceremony was on the blog yesterday but today it’s all about their beautiful, southern France wedding in Grignan.

When I asked Natalie if they had a theme for their wedding she said, it’s “Meet Me at the Tree.” She then explained how she started thinking about how a tree has had an important place in human history, from the beginning of time, and will be till the end. Therefore, even though you some of you couldn’t join us in person, I invite you now to meet us by the tree and follow along these images as Jacky and Natalie say their vows on by far the windiest wedding I have ever experienced.

These beautiful cards which Natalie and Jacky used during their First Look are from Of Note Stationers.  (I can’t RAVE enough about these cards! Simple, classic, & elegant!)

Shining Tides Wedding Mattapoisett Ma: Erik & Angela

Angela and Erik got married at Shining Tides in Mattapoisett with the most beautiful first look, sandy beaches and stunning sunset. The waterfront view is absolutely breathtaking and was the perfect backdrop for their ceremony.  But we should probably back up and start with the first time I met Angela and Erik, at their wedding consultation. I knew immediately we were going to quickly become friends. It was so refreshing to hear their story during their engagement session. Pretty much because it had me laughing from the first minute I heard it. It was one of those classic nights at the local bar, where one of Erik’s best friend’s, Panda, randomly started talking to Angela and then proceed to touch her face. Erik quickly came over to them and realized he really liked this girl. Their story is full of great humor (which was not lost during their wedding ceremony) and an wonderful community of friends and family.

It’s these weddings that move me the most. The ones that are focused on the people and the vows. Just like when that same best friend, Panda, became the wedding officiant or how almost all the bridesmaids were from Angela’s sorority…I loved knowing that they value the people in their life that do every day with them. The focus wasn’t on the details, although the details were stunning, it was focused on those those who have cried with them, laughed with them, the people who traveled to celebrate their engagement with them, the people that come over and watch an excessive amount of reruns with them or their friends that text them when they find an amazing whisky they know Erik would love to try from a local brewery. Those friends and family, surrounded them by the waterfront view and watched as Erik and Angela made a covenant to each other, to honor and cherish each other for as long as both of them shall live. In those thoughtful and personal vows, even then their friends and family joined in. I can’t help but smile as I write this knowing everyone at Shining Tides whole heartedly loved them as a couple and they in return felt the same towards those witnessing their special day.

Erik and Angela from meeting you in Brookline, to an engagement session on a rooftop in Backbay, to your wedding at Shining Tides…you both remained remarkable. Your devotion to each other is truly a beautiful gift. Thank you for letting me come and document your first day as husband and wife. I am so grateful to call you both not only amazing clients but dear friends.

Stroudsmoor Country Inn, Pocono Mountain Wedding: Meredith & Rob

Rob and Meredith’s Summer wedding at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn was absolutely breathtaking. When I photographed their engagement last Fall, I knew that their story was something special. Their wedding day couldn’t have been more perfect and it was by far my FAVORITE First Look yet. Why you ask? Oh, because they used balloons and their reactions to each other was priceless. There were also so many other details that were well thought out to all the tables being named after their favorite ice cream flavors, to Rob entering the reception in a silver sequined jacket, everyone continued to smile from ear to ear the whole day.

My FAVORITE part though was how Meredith and Rob’s vows were so personal. They cried as they promised each other forever. their tears were so real, and their laughter was so joyous. Their entire families gathered around and celebrated their love with so much happiness that it was infectious and closed the night with the raddest dance party. Meredith and Rob, you both are amazing. I’m thrilled to have been a part of your perfect day. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you both. X.O.

Park Street Church Boston Wedding: Frank & Vicky

When I first met Vicky and Frank at Tatte Cafe in Beacon Hill, I was struck by their sweetness. Both of them had such a kind and gentle way with each other. Vicky had told me that their story was unique and full of God’s providence. I asked her to explain more and as she did I could not believe their love story.

Vicky went on to explain that less than a year ago she was living and working in Hong Kong. She had to come home to the states for practical reasons but she had jested with her friends in Hong Kong before leaving that she was coming to the states to find a husband. She had no idea there was so much truth to her statement! Of course it was part of her dreams but she couldn’t have ever imagined Frank and how perfectly he fit into her life. Vicky had been back from Hong Kong for less than a year when she met Frank. Their first date was at the Thinking Cup and afterwards they went to a museum. After one month of dating, on February 14, Frank presented Vicky with an engagement ring as they sat at the very same table they met at one month earlier. When Frank proposed to Vicky, she quickly agreed knowing she loved him!

As I heard Vicky explain the story, I watched as Frank looked at her adoringly. There wasn’t an ounce of hesitation in his eyes. They both smiled from ear to ear as they talked about their upcoming nuptials. It was a beautiful, downtown wedding held at Park Street Church surrounded by so many of their friends and family! Those who could not make it from Hong Kong sent videos and shared their happiness with the couple during the ceremony. The reception followed in Chinatown.

The entire day was lovely. As they promised to honor and cherish each other in their vows, they glowed knowing they didn’t have to wait one more day! Their faith had brought them together and there was nothing that could keep them from seizing the moment now. Congratulations Frank and Vicky!

An Intimate Harvard Wedding: Matt & Mandy

There was a campus wide Risk game at Harvard around 7 years ago; this was the start of Matt and Mandy getting to know each other. Having both been living in the same residential dorm, Matt as the War Minister asked Mandy to be their dorm’s spy. Because obviously, in order to get ahead in a campus game, everyone needs a REAL spy (Mandy may be my hero!). While Mandy admits that she probably wasn’t the best spy, it was the beginning of a friendship that would blossom into something much sweeter.

When deciding what kind of wedding they wanted to have, Matt and Mandy decided it was important to have an intimate Harvard wedding in Boston- they obviously didn’t want to wait! Mandy planned this wedding in THREE WEEKS! Three weeks!! I am so impressed and so happy I was available to join to tell some of their love story! They gathered their closest family and friends together and said their vows under the tree where Matt first saw Mandy. It was a beautiful day, an intimate ceremony, and an awesome dance party!

Congrats Mandy and Matt! I hope you both enjoyed your honeymoon in Europe! -Amy
